The Glendive Unified School Board was scheduled to hold their monthly meeting Monday but a lack of a quorum forced school officials to reschedule the meeting for next week.
Four members of the board were in attendance, but five are required to conduct business.
One board member, Paul Hopfauf, had sent notice that he would be unable to attend, but the three others who were not in attendance did not. Board members attempted to get in contact with the missing board members Chad Maher, Matt Smith and Kevin Thompson for about 15 minutes before chairwoman Kris Mothershead and Superintendent Ross Farber made the decision to reschedule the meeting for next Monday, June 19.
The district’s principals begin their break at the end of the week, and it was noted that at least two of them would be out of town for the next meeting. Jefferson Elementary School Principal Stephen Schreibeis, who will take over the superintendent position in July, said he would be at next week’s meeting to help address any questions the board may have concerning the principals’ reports.
In attendance at Monday’s cancelled meeting were board members Mothershead, Mandy Hoffman, Steve Zorn and Cindy Dufner; Farber; three building administrators; curriculum director Jordan Viegut; Arlene Ulrich from the business office; and Washington Middle School teacher Lorelei Nielsen.
Items of note on the agenda include the hiring of Viegut as the Jefferson Elementary School principal, hiring middle school teacher Carson Anderson as the technology coordinator, hiring of classified staff and a donation agreement with Stockman Bank to replace the scoreboards in the gymnasium.
The meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, June 19 at 7 p.m.
