The Korbin Group has brought together local vendors and hobbyists to turn the Glendive Greenhouse into a holiday marketplace, displaying various holiday ornaments, art and refurbished furniture.

“I wanted a place where people could come and shop and find local products, especially during the holidays,” Korbin Group founder Kara Schultz said.

Schultz moved from Orlando a year ago and wanted to find a way to bring the shopping she enjoyed there to the people of Glendive.

“In Orlando, if I wanted a dresser, I could go to 400 different furniture stores,” she said. “Here, the resources just aren’t quite there, so if you’re looking for something in particular a lot of times you have to create it yourself. That’s what I love about Glendive.”

Schultz also loves Christmas, saying that seeing the holiday markets in Europe after college inspired the idea to provide that unique shopping experience in Glendive. She’ll also be selling live Christmas trees starting in mid-November, with the shop open on Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.

“When you come here, your tree’s going to be fresh, it will be quality, and it will be named. It’s going to be part of your family. You’re going to love it,” Schultz said.

Schultz is renting the greenhouse space from Lisa and Scott Swanson until Dec. 20 and charges a flat fee to vendors for hosting their inventory. Of the 23 vendors, 21 are from Glendive, with one from Miles City and one from Baker.

Schultz said the vendors are “primarily women who have another business or stay at home and this is their side business or their hobby.”

She just wanted to get them all under one roof, and with the transparent roof, the market is well-lit during the day and provides a unique shopping atmosphere after dark, with holiday lights strung throughout.

Some of the current inventory includes pottery, furniture, home decor and clothing, but the inventory is ever-changing.

“Things change every week. We have new vendors that aren’t even in yet since we just ran out of space,” Schulz informed.

Vendors featured at The Greenhouse Market include Vintage Works, Vintage Endeavors, Sugarplum, Aspen Herbals, My Grandma Had One, Kreiman Kreations, Tiny Tots, Flutterby, Southern Light, Mia Lucci, Country Girl Clay, Garnet+Me, The Vintage, Junkapalooza, Girl that Ran Away with the Spoon, Nerd with a Knack, Sweet Serendipity, Mary Lou Wenner Jewelry, Once More, Hell Creek Music, Christy Wert Pottery and The Sterling Appel.

The official opening of the holiday marketplace is set for Saturday, but the shop is currently open for limited hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The marketplace has evening hours on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
